The Sumiyoshi Taisha offers an authentic Japanese wedding ceremony with tradition and solemnity.
There are three types of shrines to choose from, depending on the number of guests and the style of the ceremony.

  • Main shrine

    Main shrine

The wedding ceremony is held in the main hall of Sumiyoshi Taisha, known as the Sumiyoshi-zukuri. One of the distinct features of our shrine is the opportunity to have a Shinto wedding ceremony in the national treasure Gohonden, which is typically off-limits to the public. The Gohonden’s simple yet dignified appearance, refreshing atmosphere, and sense of openness are truly captivating. This popular ceremony can be conveniently conducted immediately following the bridal procession.

  • Gishikiden

The Kisshouden building is perfect for intimate and solemn ceremonies with a smaller number of guests. It is conveniently located near the reception area, making it easily accessible for elderly attendees. This option is recommended for couples who want a full-fledged Shinto wedding experience without the hassle of extensive travel.Furthermore, even if the wedding ceremony takes place in the Kisshouden, it is still possible to have a bridal procession to visit the main shrine, adding a traditional touch to the celebration.
